Maygrove Village opened in 2002 by family-owned and operated property company, Hopper Developments Ltd. Today there are three Hopper Living Villages, with Maygrove being the first and known as the ‘flagship village’ of the Hopper group.

Contrary to competitors, Maygrove Village has a seemingly young entry age of 55 years, opening its doors to residents who wish to maximise their retirement, and enjoy an active, independent, and carefree lifestyle.

A Maygrove Moment

“I remember at the age of 14, we had just built the main building at Maygrove, and I got in trouble with my parents. My punishment was vacuuming the hallways of the apartment floors to the main building  – I got to know the place intimately for those few weeks… (laughs). I feel quite nostalgic whenever I visit Maygrove Village, although that particular memory isn’t my fondest, I do have an personal attachment to this place; spending time with my parents and brothers, in the early days of getting it up and running. Those are pretty special memories.”

Destination Orewa

Maygrove Village is nestled in the seaside Auckland township of Orewa. Neighbouring the scenic Maygrove Estuary, at 65 Tauranga Place (off Kath Hopper Drive), Orewa.

The location enables easy access to the greater Auckland area, with Auckland city centre is an easy 30 minute motorway drive, Albany Westfield mall only 20 minutes’ drive, and Silverdale Shopping Centre, roughly 5 minutes’ drive.

Shops, and the beautiful Orewa beach are within walking distance or a short 5 minute drive from the village.  A stones-throw-away is the Orewa estuary walkway, also known as the Te Ara Tahuna Estuary cycle and walkway, a wonderful area to explore with family and friends.
